Seiland: Coming back down

Well it's all over. The fat lady has done her bit and walked off into the wings in search of chocolate and doughnuts. I'm down, more or less in one piece, and able to tell the tale. Seiland was a great experience. Not for the faint hearted but well worth the effort. We had our fair share of  good weather, freshly caught fish and stunning scenery. The company wasn't bad either. A nice chance to catch up with an old friend who taught me (a repeated lesson but I'm a slow learner) that there's more to being out than eating up kilometers. It realy is okay to just be outside and take it all in! More, much more, will follow but before that I need to work through the photos and let it all sink in.

Can be a tough one for me too, I'll have to take out more friends. Good motivation to help people get out more.

  3. Looking forward to the report, Dave.

On a sidenote, I don't know if you have the UL Mystery box at the moment, but Roger asked to be left out this time as he is in Australia for the next four weeks - you can thus send it straight to me.

  4. Traversejapan: After landing in Hammerfest we has a last minute run through of sharded kit and food. I commented on the fact that a large bag of coffee grounds where going into Randulfs pack. He retorted with "it's not meant to be some form of punishment is it". The comment stuck with me and was rolled out on numerous occasions during the weekend. It reflects a great attitude and one which I think would indeed get more people to head out. Even if your're only going to drink coffee and read a book, why not do it in the great outdoors?

Joe/Hendrik: It's coming I promise. I've pretty much played my Joker as far as free time is concerend so it may take a while but I'll get there in the end.

Hendrik: It was a great suprise to find the box waiting for me on my return. I'm afraid, once again, that I'll be slow in sending it on. Due to a re-build at hoem, all my gear, appart from what went to Finnmark is in storage. You'll have to be patient for a little while yet.
